What would you like prospective students to know about your FXW experience?

 

Having attended FXW since Preschool, the school has shaped both my academic and personal growth. The teachers challenge you to grow, but they also provide the steady support needed to build true self-confidence. From my earliest days here, FXW instilled strong core values in me that I carry today. The unique environment, culture, and community have fully prepared me for high school and whatever comes next. Most of all, I deeply appreciate FXW’s commitment to a purposely diverse and intentionally inclusive community, and I hope future students find the same sense of belonging and growth that I have enjoyed over the last decade.

 

What is your favorite part of FXW?

 

The wealth of opportunities available to every student, both in the classroom and through extracurriculars. The teachers meet you where you are, whether you need extra academic support or are ready for advanced challenges. For example, last year as a seventh grader, I participated in a pilot Algebra I program. The small class dynamic allowed me to build close bonds with like-minded peers and accelerated my passion for math, paving the way for an exciting academic track in high school. Now as an eighth grader, I am excited to continue challenging myself by taking Geometry and Algebra II. Beyond academics, I truly enjoy being engaged in a variety of extracurricular activities and student leadership programs like JEDI. I started playing the violin here in Kindergarten and have continued ever since. From competitive sports like volleyball and academic teams such as Scholastic Bowl & Math Team to musical programs like guitar & choir, I have cherished the incredible extracurricular experiences that FXW has offered.

 

What has been your favorite memory from your time at FXW?

 

My fondest memories at FXW come from the fun, staged approach to our annual field trips. Starting in fourth grade, each year brings a new adventure — from Springfield and “Dozin’ with the Dinos” to Milwaukee, St. Louis, and finally culminating in our capstone trip to Washington, D.C as eighth graders. Alongside those major trips, another highlight for me is our annual Exploratory Day. Held at the end of each school year, this unique tradition allows students in Grades 4–8 to explore exciting places around Chicago based on their personal interests. Students choose from a wide spectrum of experiences and are grouped with others who share similar interests. It’s a fun way to wrap up the school year, discover new things about our city, and build lasting friendships with students from different grade levels that I might not have otherwise met.
