William Smith, father of Quinlan ’20 and Liam ’23, has been a solo practitioner lawyer running his own firm, William Smith Law Office LLC, since 2021. He is focused on preparing loan documents for banks. Since 2012, he has been a Senior Consultant to the Illinois office of Cornerstone Government Affairs, a D.C.-based government affairs and public relations consulting firm. William served in many roles for HomeStar Bank & Financial Services / HomeStar Financial from 1999 until 2019, including as a member of the Board of Directors (1999 -2019), Holding Company (2005-2019); Bank General Counsel (2002-2010); and CEO of the Bank (2010-2019) and Holding Company (2010-2019). He previously practiced law at O’Brien and Smith PC / William F. Smith PC (1994-2002) and Prezel & Stouffer Chtd (1991-1993). William has a bachelor’s in government from the University of Notre Dame and graduated with honors from DePaul University College of Law in 1991. He has served on several Boards and Committees including FXW’s Finance Committee, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Young Professionals Board, the Dennis J. Smith Legacy Foundation (Founder), Bishop McNamara High School Foundation, Emerald City Children’s Theater and numerous Illinois political campaigns.
