Martin Luther King Jr. Art, Essay and Poetry Contests

Each year on the third Monday of January, we celebrate the life and the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It is a time for the nation to remember the injustices that Dr. King fought. He fought for the freedom, dignity, and equality of all races and peoples.

In honor and celebration of Dr. King’s legacy, The Frances Xavier Warde School invites students to submit entries into our annual art, essay, and poetry contests. The essay and poetry contests are open to Grade 6-8 students. The art contest is open to all FXW students.

This year, for the essay and poetry contests, students were invited to write an essay based on the following MLK quote:

“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
